Website: Inspiring Abstinence22 Sep

I was recently honored to work with author, Laura B. Gallier, to design a logo, website, book cover and email marketing template for INSPIRING ABSTINENCE, a study dedicated to teens who question the validity of abstinence and to parents who want to instill sexual purity in their kids but aren’t sure how to go about it.

The most challenging goal of the design process was creating a website that appealed to both teens and parents, both guys and girls. The result was a trendy, modern look with retro elements and a dramatic, but warm, color palette.

Book Covers

Book Cover: Why Wait? The Naked Truth About Sex and Abstinence22 Sep

Why Wait? The Naked Truth About Sex and Abstinence is a faith-based book written just for young people and is designed to answer the most common and often controversial questions teens have about sex. Written by author, Laura B. Gallier, this book covers just about every issue surrounding teen sexuality—all with the intent of helping young people make up their own minds about where they stand on the issue of premarital sex.

Because there are two companion books in this series—one for parents and one for teens—I was asked to design a cover that would appeal to a teen audience, while following the look of the already-designed parent book.

I had a blast working with Laura to develop a logo, website, book cover and email marketing template for this much-needed project. I was challenged to create a logo that would appeal to both guys and girls, parents and teens. The result is a trendy-looking logo with a retro feel and color palette.

Website: Senior Service Match10 Sep

We were recently hired to design a fresh, clean site template for the soon-to-be-launched SeniorServiceMatch.com, a free service that will match the healthcare needs of seniors and their families with qualified service providers in their local area. Whether you need in-home healthcare, private sitting, errand service, or just assistance with housekeeping, SeniorServiceMatch.com will soon be your on-stop resource for all your healthcare needs.

We designed the template for this site, and then handed it off to the excellent folks at PSD2HTML for conversion to a WordPress template. They did excellent work, and we hope to use them again in the near future!

Micro Site: Total Integration04 Sep

We’re happy to announce the launch of a new micro-site for the business training experts at Total Integration™.

This single-page site includes a number of AJAX features thanks to the innovative jQuery library, which enables us to incorporate advanced JavaScript functionality in a fraction of the time it would normally take to create those features from scratch. Also included in the design is a custom PHP script that dynamically generates a link to the next GoToMeeting webinar, depending on the current date.

If you’re fed up with a job that you dread, or are ready for work that is both meaningful and rewarding, Total Integration™ could be your ticket out of the rat race!

Website: Green•Go Technologies18 Jun

Superior Eco-Friendly Construction TechnologiesWe are proud to announce the launch of our latest website design for Green•Go Technologies.

Green•Go Tech provides truly innovative roof and wall coatings, concrete conditioners, densifiers, decorative stains, and LED lighting solutions that are not only completely safe for the environment, but also last longer, dramatically reduce costs and outlast traditional products in every way!

The website was built on the popular WordPress CMS platform, which enables our client to update their own website at any time, using just a web browser and basic text editing skills. The theme was highly customized to match their corporate colors and create a fresh, light feel that is indicative of the company’s purpose, to help transition the construction industry from oil-based to superior green technologies.

Superior construction technologies from green•go

LeftLane is proud to introduce our newest client, Green•Go Technologies. The company specializes in the distribution of “green” construction technologies, including innovative lighting solutions, roof, concrete and wall coatings that are not only environmentally responsible, but also far superior to their traditional counterparts.

The leaf icon in the Green•Go logo is not only instantly familiar, but also incorporates two contrasting colors to suggest the transition from oil-based products to greener technologies. The use of lowercase and hand-lettered fonts combine to create a friendly and accessible image for the Texas-based company, where the obvious play on words in the company’s name has been warmly received.

Culture Shapers Wine Auction Program15 May

Culture Shapers Wine Auction ProgramI had fun designing an elegant “menu-like” program for the 2008 Culture Shapers Wine Auction, benefitting high school artists in Houston, Texas. Kay and I have been a part of Culture Shapers since day one, and are proud to say that we have awarded more than $750,000 for student artists over the past eight years. We’re passionate about encouraging students to pursue careers in the arts, and through the annual wine auction, Houston-area business men and women have the opportunity to invest in these talented young people.

Website: Cypress Creek FACE12 May

New website for the Cypress Creek FACEWe are proud to reveal the newly-redesigned website for the Cypress Creek Foundation for the Arts & Community Enrichment (FACE).

For more than a decade, Cypress Creek FACE has been providing great entertainment for their patrons in Northwest Houston, including a wide range of national and international classical and popular performing artists, traditional to contemporary, large ensembles to small ensembles, solo performers, new artists, art forms and multi-cultural attractions.

Because it was critical for the staff members to be able to update their own website content without relying on an outside designer, WordPress was chosen as the content management system (CMS).

The new design relies on rich textures and a dramatic color palette to create a “theatrical” feel.  In addition to the design itself, the site also required a great deal of custom code in order to display the upcoming events in reverse chronological order, rather than the default WordPress behavior.

We were happy to provide a personalized WordPress tutorial session for Nanci Decker, FACE Executive Director, and now even her 8th grade son, Michael, is confidently adding new content and updating the website!

Cypress Creek FACE provides a variety of concert series for the entire family, including their popular Star-Lit!, Promenade, Family and Children’s Series. The new website outlines the 2008-2009 season, its twelfth season.
