A WordPress Revolution?October 17, 2006
I have recently been thrust into a new world… one in which WordPress is the weapon of choice. What is WordPress? Simply put, WordPress is a blogging tool. A state-of-the-art, standards-compliant, search-engine-friendly, highly-customizable blogging tool.
Why should you use it? With WordPress installed on your web server, you can use a friendly, web-based interface to manage your website; create pages, add pictures, write a blog and a host of other features, through the use of plugins. It’s so easy to use, even your grandparents could start a blog!
Best of all, since the files reside on your own web space, you don’t have to worry about reliability issues that plague the big blogging services like Blogger.com and others.
leftlane designs has been creating highly customized WordPress installations for several months now for our clients. They’re thrilled that they can edit and create new content for their websites without having to call us and request changes.
Even changing templates is easy, and there are thousands of free templates out there! Simply choose a new look for your site and apply it with just one click! All of your content stays intact, and your site is instantly freshened!
In order to provide our clients with the unique features they each require, I’ve been hard at work, learning all about the underbelly of this powerful engine. In order to really get the most out of WordPress, you need to know some HTML, some PHP and some CSS. If those acronyms scare you, then let us handle the dirty work and you can just create your content easily, using your web browser.
I don’t know that everyone will be using WordPress in the future, but I know that many of our clients have fallen in love with its easy-to-use interface, and powerful plugins.
